...the constant anchor for healthy habits
Evolution is inevitable. It is a "what is" and you'll discover how to accept "what is" with grace, compassion and dignity. "Evolution" is a process of gradual unfolding, formation, growth, and development into a better me.The natural human condition is to strengthen goodwill. In order to do so successfully, I am required to get good and stay good with myself first. This usually takes place on January 1st through my resolutions, which typically last about one to three months. "Why does this occur?" I ask. Well, as a human being, I am programmed and conditioned a certain way (perfect and beautiful); however; it's the programming that pulls me back to my usual habits and attitudes. I let life intrude, lose focus on what is most important to me, or tell myself that, because of what happened in the past, I cannot (fill in the blank), so what's the point in committing? Therefore, reprogramming myself takes a bit of time and enthusiastic commitment through repetitive application of new tools acquired through the coaching process. The coaching process is simply self-realization (consciousness) based on, "The more I know about me, the more information I have to use constructively."
The good news is that I already have the information and answers, yet most of it is deeply stored in my subconscious. Through self-realization, I easily access that information and use it to create the results that are most important to me; the success rate is very high from the repetitive process. Remember: Doing the same thing over and over again is going to produce the same result! Therefore, if I want a different result now, then I do something differently. What does "do something" mean? First and foremost, there is no failure. When I am open to making an effort-a baby step-I am less likely to be paralyzed with fear, doubt and confusion. To "do something" is to take action on any one thing (for example, water my plants, walk outside for five minutes, lie down and stretch my legs, turn on my favorite music, write my To Do list or knit). It does not mean using my avoidance techniques (like reading a book, watching TV, eating for the sake of eating or choosing a habit to which I turn for escapism).
These changes will last a lifetime, not just a few months or a year. This progress requires a bit of faith in the unknown and a willingness to experiment, thus I am never locked into anything and always have choice in every moment. Resolutions work temporarily but a new lifestyle works permanently, even if I fall off track. I now have the tools to get back on almost effortlessly.
Growth is not often easy or quickly actualized, yet it holds a greater sense of freedom when I am fully committed to it. On the contrary, when I have one foot in and one foot out, I am holding onto my past. I cling to it like a blanket because I have no proof or certainty of future results.
Yet, the only way to feel certain to some degree is to gather knowledge, information and facts, and then take action and see how life unfolds. Yes, this takes faith on my part. One guarantee is that my results will be "different" byway of releasing my past and implementing new attitudes and approaches. When I repeat the same behavior over and over, and expect a different result, I'm setting myself up for disappointment.
I am not dismissing my past as meaningless. I am honoring it as a gift that has molded me into the beautiful human being I am today! I have the choice to take with me bits and pieces that work well and throw away the rest. I have choice in every given moment to rejuvenate and recommit, removing that heavy load I've carried around all these years. Alas, there is space for more energy and productivity as a source to strengthen my momentum and carry me through a magical year and lifetime.
THINK differently. BELIEVE differently. ACT differently. SEE the world through a different observation deck.
